The Kookaburra Classic is only weeks away!
While the entries are coming in, there is still time to nominate a team.
Don't forget this is a Bowls Australia ranked event and thanks to our premier business partner, Bendigo Bank, the prize money has increased!
Deatils under What's On...
The rain held off last week to allow the keen Thursday bowlers to play!
With 24 teams playing, it was another great day of healthy competition.
Peter McKelvie, sporting his new look, and Ray Lapham took out the winners prize on 38pts and 19 ends.
In a close contest second place went to Maurice Crabb and Fred Laycock on 37pts and 21 ends.
In another close result third place went to Rocco and Terry Hudson on 37pts and 19 ends.
The Plate was taken out by Akka and Gary Peers on 28pts and 15 ends.
Thanks to the Greaves for organising and running the event.
It was a pleasure to see the Sims at the Club for our Bowl Over Cancer Day.
Unfortunately they are leaving us for pastures greener in the South West.
Our loss is Eaton Bowling Club's gain.
Graham took the opportunity to thank the Club and members for the great time they have had while members at Gosnells.
We are very sorry to lose you both and are grateful for all you have done for our Club!
Enjoy your tree change and we look forward to seeing you whenever you are in Perth.
The biggest winner from our "Bowl Over Cancer" event on Tuesday 14 August was the WA Cancer Council, with over $2000 raised.
The bulk of the money raised was thanks to the efforts of Club member Peter McKelvie.
Peter not only grew all facial hair, but had it coloured by Deb Calvo in Club colours last week.
Following the announcement of the winning teams (Peter was in the winning team!) Deb's daughter Sherilyn Calvo, proceeded to wield the shaver!
Bit by bit the locks, eyebrows and beard came off, revealing a handsome but brightly coloured pate!
Congratulations Peter for such a great effort on behalf of cancer patients across WA.
Also congrats to Doddy Innes who completed Dry July, raising $700 for the Council.
The funds raised this year will help Cancer Council WA to continue providing their vital 13 11 20 support service for the WA community.
Special thanks to Sherilyn who came all the way from Alkimos to ensure Peter survived the shave!
Tuesday 14 August, saw the running of the first
pre-season event "Bowl Over Cancer".
