CODE OF CONDUCT

MEMBERS AND GUESTS – RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

With being a member of the Gosnells Bowling Club Inc, comes rights and responsibilities to yourself, your peers and the Club in general.

 MEMBERS AND GUESTS HAVE A RIGHT TO:

  • Be treated fairly, equally and with respect by the Club, it’s committee and other members
  • Learn and socialise in an environment free from all forms of harassment and discrimination
  • Privacy and confidentiality concerning records, documents and any other communication that contains their personal information
  • Be informed and actively involved in any event organized and run by the Club
  • Voice their opinions and requirements for themselves and the Club through democratic procedure

MEMBERS AND GUESTS HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO:

  • Treat other Club members and guests fairly, equally and with respect
  • Follow any reasonable direction or requirement given by an authorised member of the Club
  • Behave responsibly
  • Not physically or verbally harass others (fight, argue, ridicule, threaten, stalk etc.)
  • Not discriminate against any person
  • Not damage, steal or misuse Club property
  • Not  be intoxicated by alcohol or be under the influence of  illegal drugs
  • Not carry any weapon/s
  • Not use offensive language or suggestions (swearing, gestures etc.) and refrain from behaviour that could offend or embarrass others including offensive clothing.
  • Follow  all Club safety practices and requirements
  • Maintain  the harmony and good name of our Club and its members, within the Club and outside in the community
  • Abide by and uphold our Constitution, By-laws and Code of Conduct.

BREACHES OF THE CLUB’S CODE OF CONDUCT

If conflict is brought about by any breaches of the Club’s “Code of Conduct” by any Club member these conflicts will need to be resolved calmly and with honesty, dignity and confidentiality.

Where and when needed, the Club through its Board, reserves the right to make decisions and enforce fair and appropriate measures to resolve a dispute within these areas of conflict or discipline.

Any observed or reported breach or breaches of the Club’s “Code of Conduct” by any member will be investigated, discussed and dealt with by the Board either by reprimand, suspension or the revoking of Club membership.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

Ordinary Member

  • A person aged eighteen years or over. Entitled to full privileges of the Club
  • Note: Ordinary members who are also Club employees are not entitled to hold office

 Limited Member

  • A person aged eighteen years or over. Only entitled to play in Social events.
  • They shall not be eligible to:

(i) Stand for office; vote in any ballot or general meeting of the Club;

(ii) Play in Pennant Competitions, Club Championships, or Open events, or represent the Club

  • Penalties exist for any contravention of this membership. Please refer to the Club Constitution for full details
  • Limited Membership has restricted entitlements, but may be upgraded to full (ordinary) membership at any time

Concession Member

  • Only available on approval to existing ordinary members of Gosnells Bowling Club Inc. who have been a member of the Club for a minimum of ten (10) years, and due to age, infirmity or disability is unable to play in Pennant and Club Championship events
  • Shall pay a percentage of the subscription of Ordinary Membership plus capitation fee per Club year and continue to enjoy all Ordinary Member privileges

Honorary Life Member

Persons recommended and elected for their long and conspicuous service to the Club, enjoying all privileges of an Ordinary member. Honorary Life members shall not exceed fifteen (15) living members at one time and not more than two (2) shall be elected in one year

Social Member

Persons aged eighteen (18) years or over who may enjoy the privileges of the Club but shall not be eligible:

  • To stand for any office in the Club or vote in any ballot or at a General Meeting of the Club
  • To propose or second any application for membership of the Club
  • To use the greens except at the specific invitation of a Club Committee

Junior Member

Persons under eighteen (18) years, who may enjoy all the privileges of the Club but shall not be eligible:

  • To stand for any office in the Club or vote in any ballot or at any General Meeting of the Club
  • To propose or second any application for membership of the Club
  • To invite guests into the Club

Provisional Member

Persons who are currently capitated Members of another Bowling Club affiliated with RWABA or with a similar Association in any other Australian State or Territory, shall be entitled to all the privileges of the Club but shall not be eligible to:

  • Stand for any office in the Club or to vote in any ballot or at any General Meeting of the Club
  • Propose or second any application for membership of the Club
  • Play in any Pennant matches for the Club, represent the Club or play in Club Championships

Honorary Member

The Club’s Executive may grant this membership to:

Club Patrons, the Mayor of the City of Gosnells, or persons deputising for him/her, and/or any dignitaries or Club sponsors as the Executive Committee shall determine

Temporary Member

A person who on any day is visiting the Club:

  • As a member or official of, or a person assisting a team that is to contest a pre-arranged event in bowling or other competition that day - or
  • At the invitation of a member to engage in that sport on that day, may for the purposes of “The Act” be taken as a person who is accorded Temporary Membership.
