Feasibility Study Commences

Yesterday, Thursday July 30, was an exciting move forward for our Club’s future.
The City of Gosnells and the Club have entered into a partnership to conduct a Feasibility Study that will investigate the feasibility of remaining on our current site.
Porter Consulting Engineers, who have been appointed by the City of Gosnells to carry out the study, met with the Planning Committee at the Club.
Following introductions, a City of Gosnells representative gave an update on matters affecting the Club.
Formalities on the transfer to the City of Gosnells of the adjacent car park are proceeding with the Government. The land adjacent to the car park will be retained for Police use.
Porter Consulting Engineers Managing Director Brad Harris then outlined how the procedure of the study will unfold.
The company will appoint a range of professionals to carry out studies across the Club’s premises, such as power usage, drainage, traffic etc. This will include geotechnical studies that will require hand operated drilling.
The company has also appointed an architect Bill Coe, Director of Slavin Architects, who will assist in the process.
He has knowledge of sporting clubs and expressed appreciation of the building brief provided by the Club.
He pointed out that he will not be designing a building, but assisting with the Club’s concepts, which were included in the Needs Analysis, to see how it fits within the Club’s footprint.
Penny Wright was appointed as the Club liaison officer with the Consultant Group and the City of Gosnells.
Following the meeting, the group toured the Clubrooms and surroundings.
Members will be kept up to date monthly with progress of the Study.
Please be aware that there will be professionals on site at different times during the process.
While this is a very exciting time for the Club, it must be appreciated that there are no guarantees of what the result of the Study may be.
