Melbourne Cup Luncheon a Winner!
The annual Melbourne Cup luncheon was a huge success!
The clubrooms were filled with ladies dressed in their finery with glamorous hats and fascinators galore.
The men were also dressed to the nines!
Champagne corks were popped as everyone arrived to enjoy a day of fun and frivolity.
The atmosphere was building to the main event as members and guests bought up big on the sweeps and raffles.
Ray Roper, sweep-master, was resplendent in his “dinner suit” and did a great job keeping up with the sales! Angie was in her usual spot at the door selling the raffle tickets.
Phil Inn opened the festivities with song requests from the crowd.
Bar staff Rob, Carolyn and Sarah were kept busy looking after everyone’s refreshment needs in their usual friendly, efficient and professional manner. Well done!
Phil Inn took a break and “racegoers” settled in to watch the horses parading around the Birdcage.
Then the race was on.
There were winners and losers, with the sweeps being shared across the crowd.
Fashions on the Green were judged by Christine, Graham and Marilyn.
Best Ladies outfit went to Lyn Angelini, best men’s outfit to Alan Thompson and best hat to our lovely Jean Boyne.
Chris Emery and team served a delicious 3 course meal that was enjoyed by everyone. Congrats to Chris, Sue MacKay, Lesley Laycock, Amanda Morgan, Gloria McDonald, Carolyn Deas & Maureen Dalton.
Raffles were drawn and the entertainment hit a high note with Phil Inn bringing the dance floor alive!
Thanks to Gil Goddard, Jill Gibbons, Hazel McGinty, Frank Carbone and Garry Roger Scott & Assocs for donating fantastic raffle prizes.
Congrats to Helen Vaulters and her entertainment team of Angie Sharp, Beth Clark, Hazel McGinty and Marlene Yates for a great event. Well done to all.
