Peter Haley Takes Out the Men’s Championship Singles
The Men’s Singles Championship finals were played out last Sunday 16 February.
The day began with the quarter finals, followed by the semis.
The competition then was on for the finals, both Major and Bronze.
In the Major Peter Haley took on Grant Anderson and in the Bronze Doddy Innes was pitted against Michael Sharpe.
As always the spectators were given a lesson in championship bowling!
With the finals set at first to 25 shots, Peter took an early lead of 8:5 at the fifth end.
Grant came back to even the score 8:8 at the 7th end.
At the eleventh end Grant was leading 13:10. After 18 ends, Peter was back in front 23:17.
Grant fought back and after twenty ends he was only down two shots with Peter leading 23:21.
Although Grant fought hard, Peter picked up 1 shot on the next two ends to win the Championship 25:21.
Congratulations to both players for an excellent and tight game.
Well done Peter in taking out the Singles for 2019/2020.
In the Bronze, Michael came out of the blocks early and held Doddy to 15:6 at the 13th end.
Doddy rallied but Micheal proved to strong taking the Bronze 25:16 after 23 ends.
Congratulations Michael and well done Doddy!
