PRESIDENTS REPORT 24 July 2020
The Club held its Trophy Presentation Night on Saturday 18 July 2020. Approximately 88 people attended which was almost our maximum allowable due to the COVID-19 virus. A great night was had by all.
Meals were provided by Caetano and his staff and everyone enjoyed them immensely.
My thanks go to the organisers of the night, Annette Sheridan and Peter Haley and their respective committees, Jo Dunne, Penny Wright and Laraine Cook and to the Master of Ceremonies, Gerry Chapman for giving up his time to compere.
I would also like to thank Chris Tallentire MP, Mayor David Goode, Michelle Lennox, Hazel McGinty for attending the function and for their support over the past twelve months.
Due to their success in the All Ability State Championships this year, Jo Lehane, Greg Strachan and Rob Scott received an Achievement Award for their outstanding achievements.
My congratulations go to all championship award recipients and to the Club Persons of the Year, Ann Noble and Ric Pountney.
On Thursday 30 July, the Project Committee will meet with the City of Gosnells and the Consultants who have been engaged to undertake the Feasibility Study. This is a major step in the process of our Club moving forward. A report from the team will follow the meeting.
The Ballot Papers for Management Positions were posted on Monday 21 July. By now, most eligible members will have received them. It was brought to our attention by a concerned member that there were two mistakes on the Ballot Papers. These mistakes were pointed out to the Returning Officer Kevin Munt who has directed Management that all votes on these papers will be valid. Rob Gibbons emailed all members in relation to these mistakes. Sorry for the confusion.
The Club has officially signed a contract document for a new cleaning company to look after our Club. They have already commenced cleaning.
I would like to welcome our new bar staff member, Teena Lumia to our Club. She is a very experienced bar worker and she brings with her a vast amount of experience.
At this stage, COVID-19 Stage 5 has been put back till 1 August. However, this date may change day by day so we are in the hands of the gods. This all depends on new outbreaks of the virus focusing on the ALF attendance at Optus Stadium.
Social Distancing has been put in place to protect all of us. Please everybody, pay attention to these rules. It’s for your safety.
I would like to wish all members whose birthday falls over the next two weeks, A very Happy Birthday.
Stay safe everybody.
